About

Bob Gillman is a business consultant in Dallas and is available to help with your business challenges. He is a business executive with 35+ years of business experience. He has started three successful small businesses and sold them. Before starting his own businesses, he worked as a pioneer in the computer industry with CompuServe, then Electronic Data Systems, and Insource, which was a precursor to the internet. After graduating from Brown University, he learned accounting systems working for a local and national CPA firm. At CompuServe, he started as a financial programmer and was promoted to the Manager of Financial products helping the sales team sell those products. At Electronic Data Systems (EDS), I managed a team of programmers integrating the first PCs with mini-computers.
In 1977 I started Point of Sale Business Systems in Columbus Ohio. Electronic cash registers were a new innovation at this time. Point of Sale developed software to connect the back office accounting computer with the electronic cash registers in a retail organization to provide real-time inventory and sales – one of the first companies to do this. I sold my share of the company to my business partner in 1979.
In 1984 I started Videotex Systems Inc. in Dallas TX. Videotex Systems is an audiovisual integrator. I sold the business in 2020 along with Videotex Security, which is a video surveillance systems company founded in 2007.
